What is the museum’s bag policy?

Security personnel may inspect bags, parcels, and similar items. Bags larger than 17 x 26 inches (43 x 66 centimeters) are not permitted inside the museum. Nothing is permitted to be carried on one’s back. Lockers will be available for bag storage on a first come, first served basis at the Freer entrance on Jefferson Avenue.

Will wheelchairs be available for visitors to use?

For your comfort, manual wheelchairs can be borrowed by asking a security officer stationed at the museum’s accessible entrance on Independence Ave. SW. Wheelchairs are available on a first -come, first -served basis.

Will water fountains be accessible in the museum?

Water fountains will be accessible, with reminders about hygiene and social distancing.

Will lockers be accessible in the museum?

Lockers will be accessible during your visit.

Can I take photographs in the museum?

You are invited to use non-flash photography except where specifically prohibited. Devices such as tripods and selfie sticks are not permitted.

The Smithsonian may film, photograph, live stream, or otherwise record in the museums. By your presence, you consent to the use of your image and statements and those of your minor children in connection with Smithsonian activities in any media.
