Foot and lower wall of iron-glazed stoneware bowl

Shape: Footring and lower wall of a small bowl. Unglazed interior of the bevelled foot ring has a conical protrusion which rises 0.2 – 0.3 cm above the bottom of the bowl. Footring is 4.5 cm in diameter. The wall of the bowl is roughly 0.4 cm thick.
Clay: Fine-grained, dark gray with few inclusions and many small air pockets. Body burned dark tan where exposed to kiln atmosphere during firing.
Glaze: Light tan/caramel-colored, iron-brown glaze.
Decoration: Freely drawn underglaze iron/manganese brush strokes which appear dark brown under the caramel glaze. There is also a darker, almost black decoration executed in the same freely painted strokes which have burned through the glaze and which appear a milky bluish-white in color. It is not clear what the motif of the decoration was.
