Painting is one of a set of eight views of Tokyo by Ogata Gekko. Here the artist has chosen the scenic view of the Takinogawa ("River of waterfalls") where people have gathered to sit outdoors and enjoy the scenery and the red maples in fine weather. Contained in modern wooden box with lid.
