- Description
-
The full-length garment uses pieces of indigo dyed tie-dyed (kasuri) cotton with careful balance and workmanship in the left-right symmetry of segments of different patterns in differing quantities, even to the small triangular patches on each side on the front. The hem is precisely finished with a narrow band of contrasting fabric. The garment is reinforced with a grid of fine quilting. The sleeve structure indicates that this garment was worn by a woman, while the muted colors suggest a woman of middle age.
