Detached folio from a dispersed copy of the Shahnama (Book of kings) by Firdawsi; Persian in black nasta'liq script, headings in gold and red; recto: Mehr Hormozd kills Khusraw Parviz, The story of Shiruya and Shirin; four columns, twenty-six lines of text; verso: right-hand half of a double- page composition separated from the facing folio (S1986.226), the continuation of The story of Shiruya and Shirin, four columns, twenty-six lines; one of a group of six folios.
Border: The text is set in gold, red, and green rulings on cream-colored paper.
