The teabowl given to Mrs. Stephen Rhoades by C.L. Freer in May 1917 (for more information, see Curatorial Remark 1, Elizabeth Duley, June 2001, and Curatorial Remark 2, Louise Cort, July 15, 2010, in the object record).

[3] The original deed of Charles Lang Freer's gift was signed in 1906. The collection was received in 1920 upon the completion of the Freer Gallery.
