- Description
-
Shape: Fragment of the shoulder and neck of a small stoneware bottle. Wheel thrown.
Clay: The body is a moderately coarse gray clay with dark inclusions. The wall of the shard is between 0.3 and 0.4 cm thick.
Glaze: Rich, iron-brown glaze.
Decoration: There is horizontal ribbing on the body of the bottle where potting lines were not smoothed away. The topmost horizontal line is located at the junction of the neck and shoulder of the bottle and appears to have been deliberately raised so as to catch the rich, chocolate-brown glaze which has pooled above it slightly.
Marks: None.
