1. (Linda Merrill, 20 September 1995) Commissioned by Edward Dalziel for Once a Week in 1862 for nine pounds. Drawn to illustrate an address by Tennyson (never completed) on the famine in Lancashire caused by the embargo on exports of American cotton during the Civil War. Reprinted by Thornbury in 1876 to illustrate "Left His Home." The model is Joanna Hiffernan.
