- Description
-
Inverted pyriform (pear-shaped) vase with everted lip, thin rim and trumpet-shaped neck. Flared base extends over raised foot trimmed to create footring.
Clay: Porcelain; footrim darkened on surface by use.
Glaze: Red (copper) pigment applied to lip, rim and upper neck under a light blue-green glaze. Red pigment on neck crazed during firing. Specks of red glaze appear through glaze on exterior body. At the waist and shoulders glaze has a pitted, "orange-peel" texture due to traces of minute bubbles in the glaze which burst at high temperatures during firing. Blue-green glaze also applied to interior and foot. Unglazed footrim.
Decoration: Red color, concentrated primarily on the bottle rim and upper neck, contrasts with the blue-green glaze.
Paper labels: "CMK 8" and "*/[triangle]."
