Performance: Silkroad Ensemble

Friday, December 8, 2017, 7:30 PM

Six members of the Silkroad Ensemble celebrate their conviction that when people create music together, they listen to differences and create meaning from them. Artists inspired by traditions from across Asia, the Middle East, and Europe explore the power of radical cultural collaboration on stage, part a yearlong residency that began on the Freer|Sackler’s reopening weekend. Featured artists are Syrian-born clarinetist Kinan Azmeh, bassist Jeffrey Beecher, violist Nicholas Cords, Hadi Eldebek on ‘ud (Arab lute), percussionist Haruka Fujii, and Shaw Pong Liu on violin and erhu (Chinese fiddle).

Free tickets required. Tickets are also available at the door starting one hour before each concert.
