Exploring Pattern and Design with Ebtisam Abdulaziz

Examine complex patterns in art across media through this creative exploration with DC-based artist Ebtisam Abdulaziz. Visit the exhibition Engaging the Senses to find patterns and designs in paintings and glasswork from the Islamic world. Then, create your own artwork that uses pattern to express personal concepts of place and home. For ages 16 and older.

Ebtisam Abdulaziz is a multidisciplinary artist and writer. She incorporates her unique perspective on mathematics and the structures of systems to explore issues of identity and culture through installations, performance pieces, and works on paper. Originally from the United Arab Emirates, Abdulaziz has exhibited her work at the Venice Biennale; Sharjah Biennial; Mori Art Museum, Tokyo; Institut du Monde Arabe, Paris; NYU Abu Dhabi; RhizomeDC; and DC Arts Center.
