Disruption: Video Art from Asia

Saturday, October 14, 2017, 6 PM - 12 AM

Many Asian artists employ moving image and sound to question and reimagine the past. Disruption: Video Art from Asia presents a selection of video works in which memory and cultural traditions become starting points for richly layered commentaries on the present. Manuscript paintings, old newspapers, buildings, and childhood memories are transformed into musings on love, history, politics, and the environment.

Disruption is screened for one night only to celebrate the Freer|Sackler’s reopening. Participating artists include Ahmad Ghossein, Shahzia Sikander, Sun Xun, Moon Kyungwon, and Tuan Andrew Nguyen.
